A Lesson on Abundance from my Two Year Old!

piggybankRecently, my son and I were at a local  out door plaza walking around, enjoying music and eating ice cream. My son spotted the big water fountain and ran up to it with sheer excitement! The wind was blowing the mist from the fountain right into our faces and I  loved watching my son dance around in it.

He noticed that there were “shiny things” as he put it in the water fountain. I explained to him why people throw money
in the fountains and asked him if he wanted to make a wish. I thought that maybe that would help him make the connections. So I took two pennies from my wallet  and gave him one. I made my wish and tossed my penny in the fountain. He seemed interested so I asked him if he wanted to try it. He looked at me and said “No, I want to put it in my piggy bank”. Then he put it in his pocket and kept on walking around the fountain and enjoying the mist.

What a powerful  moment!  My son chose to save his penny instead of tossing it away into a fountain. Think about it. He knew instinctively that it wasn’t right. Why does it make sense to throw our money away? It doesn’t. Yet we do over and over again.

We are each born with an original template of abundance. It’s a built in blueprint that comes from the Universe, from God, from our abundant and holy selves. However, we have forgotten that and have actually trained our minds to believe in struggle and lack and poverty. The only reason there is such a thought as poverty is because we have created a belief that there is not enough. Clearly we are not born with that knowledge. Clearly we only know that we are completely taken care of and everything we need will be handed to us as we need it as infants. As we grow, we forget because we start to adopt the irrational thinking of lack and struggle, fear and pain and the list goes on.

Why am I sharing this story with you? Whether or not you are a single mom at this point is irrelevant. I believe that EVERYONE can take with them a learning from this experience. YOU have an original template of abundance inside of you. It is WHO YOU ARE at the core of your being. So here’s my challenge and invitation for you…

  • Start looking at the ways you disrespect your money- even if it’s just throwing it away into a water fountain for fun. Pennies don’t make wishes come true. Faith and belief do. So put your faith and your belief in yourself, not on anything outside of yourself.
  • Get in touch with your original template of abundance- the pure place of wealth that exists inside of you- and start making choices that will activate that vibration of abundance and DEACTIVATE the false beliefs of lack and struggle. Start to make choices that lead you in the direction of financial freedom and internal and external wealth.
  • What is your financial limit? People only struggle financially because they believe somewhere deep down inside that the struggle is real. People will only make the money they are “set to make”. If you think you can only make  a certain amount of money then you are not in touch with the unlimited potential that exists everywhere including within yourself.
  • Notice your attitudes, your feelings, your responses and your perceptions about money and start designing a set of values and actions that will bring you back to your original template of abundance.

Abundance is the vibration of joy activated by gratitude and put in motion by your faith and action.

This young man had obviously heard the old saying….save your pennies… the pounds will take care of themselves…a wise young man.

    Hi Marilyn,

Though we’ve gotten better at it, we throw money away by food
we never eat – and eventually throwing it away.

Now, we try and cook or eat all the food we buy – as best we can.

I also disrespect money by buying things, realizing I need to return them because they don’t fit or whatever – and then forgetting to return them!

    Anyway, GREAT article!

Rhonda, when we become aware of every little detail that has to do with how we spend our money, it’s a big eye opener isn’t it? I believe that if we just practice as best we can and demonstrate to the Universe that we are showing up, then it will all fall in place.

Thank you so much for sharing this piece of your journey here!
